National Standards

Lisa Huelskamp, Future City Competition Regional Coordinator for the State of Ohio, prepared the following information on National Standards. Ms. Huelskamp is the Coordinator of Gifted Education for the Westerville City Schools in Ohio. Professor Karen F. Zuga, from Ohio State University, reviewed Ms. Huelskamp's documentation of the National Standards' applicability to the Future City Competition. Professor Zuga is a recognized authority in technology education and has published numerous articles and received many awards of distinction.

1. Benchmarks for Science Literacy

This is the full text of the Project 2061 Benchmarks, maintained by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. 2. National Educational Technology Standards

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), in partnership with a number of organizations and educators across the country, has developed standards defining what technological knowledge and skills students should learn. 3. Principles and Standards for School Mathematics

4. National Science Education Standards

The National Academy Press has the full text of the science standards online. These standards were created by the National Research Council, National Academy of Sciences. 5. National Standards for Technological Literacy

The International Technology Education Association (ITEA) has published Standards for Technological Literacy: Content for the Study of Technology. ITEA is the largest professional educational association focused on experiential technology education in the academic arena for grades K-12.
