Essay & Narrative

Research Essay & City Narrative Instructions

 

Submission:

Teams are to submit the following three (3) items, in either a Word Document or PDF, to ohiofuturecity@gmail.com

1. Research Essay & City Narrative Form

2. Research Essay and References

3. City Narrative

 

Please note:  The school name and Future City name MUST appear at the top of both the Research Essay and the City Narrative

 

Item 1: Research Essay & City Narrative Form:

Fill out the Research Essay & City Narrative Form (see below to download) and email with Research Essay, References, and City Narrative.

 

Item 2: Research Essay and References:

Students research and write an essay in which they choose one energy source and design a way to generate electric power for their city that does not deplete natural resources and has limited impact on the environment.

The Research Essay maximum word count is 1000 words. Word count does not include the title and reference list, but does include captions of graphics and illustrations.  A maximum of four (4) graphics/illustrations are allowed.

 

Students must submit three (3) references following the Research Essay citing at least three (3) sources of information with the essay.  (NOTE: Wikipedia cannot be cited as a reference.)

Item 3: City Narrative:

 

Students write a narrative describing their future city’s key features and design attributes. The purpose of the City Narrative is to give the judges a quick overview of the future city’s infrastructure and its public services.

 The City Narrative maximum word count is 500 words, not including the title.

Deadline:

 All three items are to be emailed to ohiofuturecity@gmail.comby December 9, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. without deductions.  Late submissions will be accepted with deductions. (Deduction is 5 points.) Late items must be emailed by December 14, 2011, at 5:00 p.m.  Anything received after December 14 will not be accepted.
