Solaratoll Abstract
Solaratoll’s Paradise
Welcome to Solaratoll! Solaratoll is a pristine atoll in the beautiful blue-green South Pacific, located at the equator on the International Dateline. The city was founded by scientists investigating uses of the sun’s energy and curious magnetic properties of volcanic magma.
As the city grew, people became attracted to the beautiful surroundings as well as the advanced technology. Today, in 2199, one of our greatest assets is our transportation system developed by our research engineers and scientists.
By using SMART, Super Magnetic Aggregate Road Technology and MEM, Magnetically Enhanced Magma, we were able to create a transportation system that provides power to vehicles without noise, air or water pollution. Magnetic fields, generated in the roadbed along with generators and super capacitors on-board the vehicles provide power. With this system, a new freedom of vehicle design became possible. Vehicles are auto-navigated to their destinations by the NAVIQUEST Vehicle Guidance System.
Our city is part of an ongoing Research and Development program. Studies in Volcanology, Marine Biology, Oceanographic Harvesting, and many other fields are conducted at our off-shore R&D Center. As part of an agriculture experiment, we found that we could double our crop yields of mangos, coconuts, and pineapples by using volcanic ash and kelp fertilizers. Our aquaculture researchers found that farm-raised coral could be used to cure heart and lung diseases.
Students love school in our city because artificial intelligence (A.I.) robots teach the children. They can teach any subject and offer any requested class. Students prepare research projects anytime, anywhere through our wireless network schools and holographic media guides. Instant Homework Messenger tracks assignments and allows students to review assignments and ask questions to their instructors.
The city commission created a building plan to construct a community with similar building materials. Our basic building material is made with a fine powdered volcanic aggregate mixed with foam to form concrete. Buildings are covered with full-spectrum solar cells, creating pollution-free power and free electricity to the city. Buildings are able to drop below-ground in the event of a typhoon or other disaster. An underground piping system sends city waste to the volcano, where it is incinerated.
People in Solaratoll communicate to one another by using a Holographic Communication System. Each person has a small transmission device that sends and receives visual and audible messages. The signals are sent through satellite links, eliminating the need for cables.
Because of our advanced research and technology, security is very important to protect our citizens and our data from terrorists. Needle-less DNA samples are gathered to recognize and allow entrance to buildings. A.I. security robots patrol the land, sea, and sky.
The economy of our city is supported by exporting the SMART road system and full-spectrum solar cell roofing technologies to other locations. By protecting our environment, we have also created a sustainable tourist industry from the beautiful, panoramic views, lagoons, and perfect weather.
Solaratoll, the city our great-great-great-grandparents dreamed of centuries ago, is now a reality!

Solaratoll’s SMART Transportation
Imagine a beautiful volcanic atoll paradise with breathtaking scenic views. This is Solaratoll, a city in the year 2199. Solaratoll is located at the equator, on the International Dateline in the South Pacific.
The transportation system is one of the most valuable things in Solaratoll. The system named SMART, Super Magnetic Aggregate Road Technology, is innovative, efficient, and environmentally friendly!
The road system is constructed with a volcanic rock aggregate base (harvested from magma) and Magnetically Enhanced Magma (MEM) binder. By adding a magnetic powder as a binder to the aggregate and controlling the way the magma cools, MEM forms individually insulated particles into a hard concrete material and develops a polarized magnetic field, which actually creates the energy that drives our vehicles down the road.
All vehicles operate with a bi-power system: an on-board generator that senses the polarity of the magnetic field as they drive over the road; and a backup super capacitor which stores electrical energy converted from magnetic form. The rechargeable super capacitor allows each vehicle to continue to run long distances, even over roads without magnetic field properties. Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) is effectively resolved through frequency monitoring and modifications in the SMART and NAVIQUEST systems and fully validated through compatibility testing.
A super-computer used in the SMART system stores the topographical information that was used to generate each road section. This super-computer is owned and maintained by the SDOT (Solaratoll Department of Transportation). Its central database allows the SDOT to diagnose and repair a specific section quickly and efficiently. Navigational information from each section’s location can be accessed in the database too. Vehicles on the road are tied to the system by satellite signals. You will never get lost on our road because the navigational system called NAVIQUEST will safely transport a vehicle to any requested destination. The system is also capable of managing traffic and guarantees accident-free and smooth traffic flow all the time.
The road surface is covered with a transparent glass-like material, made of volcanic sand and plastic called “volcastic”. It protects the magnetic base from road wear and provides traction. Built-in electrical grids under the volcastic layer can diagnose and repair road defects, and illuminate the road at night, making the road safer. It can also create heat to melt snow and ice on roads in cooler climate zones. What's more, people can live nearby with very little noise pollution.
Our roads are made from an environmentally friendly process. The aggregate material mining does not hurt the volcano or destroy the environment because it is located underground, away from the residential and commercial areas. Each road section is carefully prefabricated in our factories and shipped to its intended location.
In three ways, our aggregate has clearly increased the efficiency of our transportation system. It’s the source that powers the vehicles, the sectional design allows for quick replacement, and it has a harder and more durable roadbed.
Our transportation system has many more features and values. It is clean, because it runs on magnetic-electric energy. Living in a pollution-free environment is very important for the health and long life of our citizens. The leaders of Solaratoll are committed to protecting the land and water environments. Great measures are taken to prevent petroleum mining and under-ocean-direct-harvesting for volcanic magma.
Our engineers were faced with many design, development and manufacturing challenges, the greatest one being how to transport molten magma before it cooled. Our Material Processing engineers invented Thermal Magma Piping (TMP), to transport 1000 °C magma. The steel pipes are anti-clogging, internally insulated up to 1650 °C with a special ceramic, SilicaCoat. A Nomex-Kevlar compound insulates and protects the pipes from the environment. Another problem was how to push the molten magma. Our engineers solved the problem by designing a special screw-drive system in the pipe, with the same ceramic coating.
Our engineers designed artificial intelligence robots to work in the hot, dangerous magma-mining operation. They also developed a Volcanic Pressure Relief system to prevent the volcano from erupting.
Solaratoll, the city our great-great-great-grandparents dreamed of centuries ago, is now a reality - safe, clean, and aggregately SMART!
