"Power up for a Brighter Future"

Welcome to Apricus, the city with a state-of-the art design technology which meets the energy needs for the future in an earth-friendly way. As our fossil fuels have depleted, our engineers have searched for new ways of combining solar and wind power to sustain our city.

These new designs combined with energy conservation and efficient power utilization, specifically in the area of building design, give Apricus the title of being the most energy efficient city in the world.
Photo of Team and Model      Our search for a clean and abundant source of power begins with the newly engineered solar module containing a GBSU (Generate, Beam, Store, and Utilization) system, which revolves around the sun. This module collects the sun's energy and beams it to smaller generators stationed along the Equator. These generators, in turn, beam the microwaves to a dish on the outskirts of Apricus. The energy is stored in batteries and brought to the citizens by way of underground power lines.
While this solar component supplies most of our energy, our wind farms supply the back-up energy for Apricus. Our city prides itself on our newly designed Hovercraft Wind Technology which is powered by its solar panels. Our engineers have placed the wind generator blades on a hovering base. This base allows the hovercraft to search for the most powerful winds in Apricus's uninhabited areas. The blades draw in the wind and move a system of gears inside the hovercraft. This energy is then stored in batteries. Engineers in Apricus use super computers to monitor the usage and availability of the wind energy. In case of severe weather or malfunction, our system can shut itself down. This new technology is becoming a booming industry for Apricus, providing not only wealth for the city but also high-tech jobs for the citizens.
In Apricus, our buildings say it all in their energy-conscious design. Each building contains super-insulation,which is two times the amount of insulation used in the year 2002, and airtightconstruction. Together these provide our citizens with the best in home heating efficiency. In order to protect our air quality, the buildings use air-to-air heat exchangers. These exchangers replace the air inside with fresh air from outdoors. The exchangers also monitor the air quality, signaling if smoke, carbon monoxide, or other air pollutants are present. Even the industrial buildings located in our Supercomputer Sector incorporate passive solar designs. A solar dish sits on the peak of each rooftop constantly collecting energy for consumers when needed.
Using the natural energy of the sun, the hydroponic domes on top of many of our commercial buildings provide food, oxygen, and natural beauty. The greenery improves morale among our Apricans and enhances their health with the rich flow of oxygen that it provides.
This new energy system is a great improvement from the polluting, inefficient, wasteful systems of the past that relied on fossil fuels. Instead, our citizens enjoy a tranquil and clean city that is free of air and noise pollution.
