“The Future City Competition allows my students to use their science knowledge in a real world setting.  They find themselves fully immersed in the learning experience.  Science is real; science is exciting.  The Future City Competition allows me the thrilling experience of learning about and imagining the future.  After 12 years, I have seen future ideas of 1997 become realities of 2008.”

Jane Ring teaches sixth, seventh, and eighth graders science, math, and language arts at Our Lady Help of Christians School in Abington, Pennsylvania and is a member of the Science Curriculum Committee for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  She received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Dayton and a Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University of Chicago.  After graduating from Dayton, she taught middle school students for seven years before attending Loyola Law School.  During her ten-year legal career, she clerked for an appellate court judge and then worked as a litigation attorney.  As her family grew, she returned to her first career of teaching middle school students.  She has been listed in Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who of American Educators.  In 2004, she received the National Catholic Education Association’s Distinguished Teacher Award.  Jane and her husband Jim have been active members of the Abington community for over twenty years.  Jane enjoys reading, especially Jane Austin novels, and watching ice hockey and baseball.  Her greatest enjoyment, however, is being with her children and her grandsons.
